Over 100 Predictions for Education & Edtech in 2022 (eSchool News, eCampus News)
With so much uncertainty stemming from the pandemic and COVID-19 variants, you may be feeling unsure about what education and edtech in 2022 will look like.
Still, there are plenty of trends that are expected to begin or continue, and we can predict where edtech in 2022 is headed. Two articles from eSchool News and eCampus News collected over one hundred predictions from edtech executives, stakeholders, and experts.
Edthena founder and CEO Adam Geller shared his expertise and here’s what he had to say:
District leaders are telling us they’re looking for ways to ensure teachers feel supported in their classrooms — even when there are fewer coaches to provide support. This has meant conversations with us about streamlining feedback to teachers and increasing teacher-teacher collaboration. We’re discussing how to strategically implement video feedback “now” and replicate successful models from other districts.
Lizzy Hetherington, Director of Teacher Development at the Arkansas Teacher Corps, also thought about edtech in 2022 as a continuation of how the program has been using Edthena.
With so much uncertainty in school systems this year, we have found that teacher candidates in our alternative certification program – just like many K-12 and higher ed educators across the country – are craving more support and growth than ever before. To respond to this, we have used video coaching to quadruple the number of observations and touch points we have with our first-year teacher candidates. We have also refocused a lot of our professional development to center on mindfulness for both teachers and students. These actions, which we will continue to focus on in 2022 and beyond, have in part led to our teacher candidates reporting higher satisfaction with the program than they have in the last three years.
